Capsule Corporation s.r.l. is looking for skilled and motivated engineers to design and test avionics systems for our WaterCube space propulsion unit. Our team is after individuals with first-principles understanding of aerospace systems and deep motivation to disrupt the space industry. This role does not necessarily require you to have previous experience in the aerospace industry. What you will do:
- Design circuit boards for a breadth of applications, including digital, analogue, mixed signal, and power electronic systems.
- End-to-end ownership of electronics systems from specification through design, prototype, validation, and manufacturing.
- Translate engineering requirements and specifications into high quality, well-tested, electronic systems.
- Work alongside engineers from a variety of disciplines (mechanical, propulsion, testing, electronics).
- Coordination with component suppliers.
- Clearly document and present designs at various stages of completion.
- Systems engineering, to ensure that all requirements are met, while other systems are not negatively impacted.
- Support design reviews with institutional (ESA, ASI, Universities) and private stakeholders.
- Production of flight hardware, prototype development, selection of vendors and production methods.
- This role may require travel domestically and internationally.
Mandatory requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or similar.
- Near-graduate near-graduate in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering or similar. Ideally with experience in an electronics or embedded systems environment.
- Proficiency in designing schematics and routing PCBs in EDA, such as Altium, Cadence or KiCad, or the willingness to quickly learn such tools.
- A first-principles understanding of electronics fundamentals.
- Knowledge of digital communication busses, such as CAN, RS-4222, RS-485, USB, I2C.
- Experience in circuit simulation.
- Knowledge of analogue sensors and signal conditioning circuits.
- Experience with design for EMC
- Ability to work in a highly cross functional role with multidisciplinary skills.
- Experience with testing, troubleshooting and debugging electronic hardware with lab equipment.
- Proven oral and written communication skills (English).
- Knowledge of MS Office tools (word, ppt, excel) or similar open-source ones.
It would be great if you also had some of the following skills:
- Experience with version management systems such as Git.
- Wide range of hands-on skills from PCB assembly to wire harness/cable tree construction to automotive/aerospace standards.
- Knowledge of systems engineering.
- Experience writing embedded software in C, C++ or Python.
- Experience with design of high reliability electronics (e.g. DO-254, ECSS, NASA).
- Basic understanding of mechanical design fundamentals.
- Knowledge of scientific document writing tools like LaTeX.
- Italian language skills.

- We are looking for Master Thesis candidates who can take initiative, are willing to take risks and collaborate to solve complex and novel problems. This role requires full-time commitment (40 hours/week). We can also evaluate part-time needs on a case-by-case basis.
